There is still a timelessness about Marsasxlokk , best experienced early in the morning or late afternoon, when most of the visitors have gone home and women place their chairs outside their front doors to catch the breeze and share some gossip, the men wonder home from drying and fixing their nets and the kids dive into the sea off the spit of land at the end of the bay known as il-Maghluq. The  small market in Marsaxlokk opens on every weekday, but  is most active on Sunday a, very popular with the tourists and the locals. Rapidly carving its own name as a resort area, The South coast provides some of the more spectacular views on the Island, and has a more open and typically local feel about it.
